Spring Practice Period 2012
Registration is now closed.
During the period of March 11 to March 25, the regular Ashand Zen Center schedule will be suspended, except for our Wednesday night offering. This is followed by a closure for Spring Break. Our regular weekly schedule will resume April 3.
What is a Practice Period?

It is a time to set aside one’s usual, ordinary activities and enter deeply into the rhythm of daily temple life.
One makes a commitment during Practice Period to forego normal activities (television, public events, exercise classes, eating out, etc.) in order to realize the present moment.
The schedule will include zazen (meditation) and bowing practice in the zendo, study hall, and samu (work practice). There will be scheduled free time each week.
PRACTICE PERIOD INVITATION
Spring Practice Period begins with a Sesshin on March 11, continues with a half-day Practice Period Schedule through March 22, and concludes with our Buddha’s Birthday Sesshin on March 23, 24, and 25.
You may register for these as three separate events. However, if you do not plan to attend the entire Practice Period, you must submit a Personalized Schedule with your registration.

Personalized Schedule
What if I have to go to work or handle childcare? It is possible to create a ‘Personalized Schedule’ that is approved by the Practice Leader (Jintei Harold Little).
For example, Tom might attend morning zazen and breakfast and then leave for work. When creating your schedule, please be aware that samu (work period) is an integral part of Zen practice, as important as zazen practice, and should not be treated as ‘optional’.
Registration Fees and Deadline
Practice Period fees are due with registration by Wednesday, February 29.
Late applications will not be accepted.
If there is an insufficient sign-up for an event, that event will be cancelled and fees will be returned. Otherwise, non-refundable payment is required at sign-up.
